I got one of those “Oblivion moments” today. Not while playing the game, but when driving home from work this afternoon. The sun broke through and melted all the clouds in the sky after a weekend of miserable wet and windy weather. It was, for the first time this year, mild with a fresh touch of humidity in the air. With the window wound down on a day which the little hedgehogs will think is the end of their hibernation, I felt glad to be alive. It’s the same feeling you get waking up on a Saturday morning, and can smell freshly cut grass. For a moment you are infinitely happy, and don’t want to return to the tedious reality. But for me, Oblivion provides my daily fix of this feeling.

The PS3 version is somewhat let down by the key aspect of custom content, and has arguably less atmosphere and less suited controls, but this is still worth it for those who like to lose themselves in a completely engrossing game.
