Neves is a fun jigsaw puzzle based game that is easy to use with the interactive touch screen of the Nintendo DS.
The idea of the game is to use the same 7 puzzle pieces that are given to you and to complete the shape outlined on the screen by moving the pieces in to the outline in the correct place. The controls are very easy to use and it is very clear which piece you are currently moving. Each piece of the puzzle can be moved around the screen; they can also be rotated or flipped to get them in to the required position. All you need to do is to work out where within the puzzle outline the piece needs to go, get the piece in to the right position and move it in to place. There are over 500 different puzzles ranging from shapes like Christmas tress to squirrels, there is even numbers shaped as puzzles.
There are four different game modes. These are:
• Silhouettes – This is the standard game, you can take as long as you like to try and solve the puzzle. There is no pressure to rush
• 7 Steps – This game mode is when you are limited to touching separate shapes only 7 times
• Time Pressure – When playing in this mode, you have to solve each puzzle within the 3 minutes time limit that you are given.
• Bragging Rights – This is the multiplayer option where you try to solve the puzzle before your opponent does.
There are also options to see all the achievements you have completed.
The tutorial option is very useful when you first start playing the game. This is where you can learn how to play the game and learn the details of all the moves you are required to do throughout the game.
In each mode they start you of with four levels:
• Room 1, Level 1
• Room 2, Level 1
• Room 3, Level 1
• Room 4, Level 1
As you complete each level, I am sure that another level is added (e.g. Room 1, Level 2) therefore taking you longer to complete the game.
In conclusion this game is very addictive and would appeal to all ages ranging from young to old (even you Granny would enjoy this game!) This would also particularly appeal to people who like puzzles, for example puzzles like Sudoku, Picross, crosswords and many more.
Pros:
- Game appeals to wide audience
- Fun
- Addictive
- Easy to learn
Cons:
- Slightly repetitive
- Can become frustrating if you can not figure out the answer
