I was after a small puzzle/action game for a while to play with my girlfriend and after stumbling on Fuzion Frenzy 2 in the shop for a bargain price I thought maybe I had found it.
Basically what I wanted was a game consisting of lots of smaller games and puzzles which you play with a partner or up to 4 people, the kind where you grab a crate of beers, some snacks and play all night with your mates over mind numbingly simple party games… And that’s what I got!
Fuzion Frenzy in some senses does have this, containing over 40 games, it gives plenty to offer if you want to play very short, almost mindless games with friends.
Games vary in a Mega Man style format, such as Lava games, Water Games and different types in that style. Each set of games are quite similar to the previous set, with minor changes and graphical differences but in essence it does lower the variety of games available, as quite a few are cunningly disguised when in reality they're pretty much the same as a few of the other puzzle games on this pack.
The games allow you to smack your opponents in Electric cage fights with bits of the floor falling away, water rapid races, forklift truck games where you have to stack more boxes in your corner than your opponent.
At first the game really does appeal, but unfortunately after a few hours of playing, things really become annoying.
Some of the controls are not very good, making life hard when you want to make simple maneuvers. Also the commentary is absolutely dire, a man's voice with a slight Japanese / American accent talking over every move with only 2 different sayings.
"DID THAT HURT PLAYER 1?"
"THAT MUST OF HURT PLAYER 3"
And that’s it.. over and over again, with every hit the commentator repeats the above 2 phrases. Unfortunately for me it took me 3 weeks to work out you can turn the sound commentary down in volume control, but this has to be done each time.
Overall this game is ok to play, and is great for a younger Xbox player to play, with simple games allowing the development of logic and competitiveness in a fun way.
For me, I have only played this a couple of times since buying it, and probably wont get the disc out again.
Pros:
- Large Variety Of Games
- Great Party Play
Cons:
- Diabolical Sound
- Poor Controls
